The San Diego County Board of Supervisors Terra Lawson-Remer and Monica Montgomery Steppe have unveiled an initiative to support the region's arts and culture scene. The initiative would invest millions into the arts, particularly focusing on diverse and underserved communities. The proposal includes up to $2.75 million in total funding, with $250,000 in ongoing annual investments, including investments in the Black Arts and Culture District, artist space grant programs and a binational creative economy investment. The funding includes low-barrier funding for individual artists, low-costed programs, and initiatives to promote cross-border arts and cultural collaboration in the San Diego- Baja California region. The vote on the proposal is set to take place on May 5.
