Nexstar CEO Perry Sook has criticized DirecTV for its opposition to the $6.2 billion merger between Nexstar and Tegna, stating that it is an oxymoron given who they compete against. Sook also mentioned that the company, which is one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, has a history of trying to weaken its negotiating partners. He dismissed the idea of a "broadcast behemoth" as an oxymorphon. The lawsuit was filed after Nexstar announced it had closed its merger with Tegna on March 20. The combined company will reach 80% of U.S. households, more than doubling the current 39% level of the federal ownership cap.
