The Daily Wire has secured a consent decree in Missouri v. Biden, a lawsuit challenging the federal government's efforts to strong-arm social media companies into silencing dissenting views online. The case alleges that senior officials from multiple federal agencies engaged in an unprecedented campaign to pressure social media platforms into censoring lawful speech. The plaintiffs argue that the Biden administration had outsourced government censorship to private companies, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, to suppress content related to Covid origins and treatments, the Hunter Biden laptop story, and election integrity. The consent decree is designed to prevent the type of coercion the federal authorities used to use to prevent Americans from speaking out publicly about major issues of the day. However, it also includes a limit on government action outside the confines of the lawsuit, which is focused on the parties to the case rather than enforsion of the case.
