President Donald Trump has urged Republican lawmakers to stay in Washington for a vote on a bill that ties Department of Homeland Security funding with voter identification requirements in the SAVE Act. The president suggested that lawmakers shouldn't go home for the two-week recess starting at the end of this week. He also suggested tying the two together in a TruthSocial post, stating that any deal with the Democrats should include approval of Voter I.D., Citizenship to Vote, No Mail-In Voting, and No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our children. The SAVE act would require photo ID and proof of citizenship when registering. The shutdown of DHS funding has lasted over a month and is starting to impact airports with long lines.
