Democrats' push to redistrict in Virginia is entering the home stretch as they aim to gain an advantage in four more House districts before the November midterms. The April 21 contest, which asks Virginians to consider a constitutional amendment that would redraw the state's maps mid-decade, aims to give Democrats an edge in all but one of 11 congressional districts. The current Republican districts currently held by Republicans are outpacing blue ones in voter turnout, but Democrats have a significant fundraising advantage. If approved, the proposed map would shift Democrats from a 6-5 majority in the state’s House delegation to a 10-1 advantage. Supporters of the amendment are optimistic about new satellite early voting locations opening up this weekend, giving more Democrats easier access to the polls.
