The House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) and House GOP leaders have rejected a Senate deal to fund the bulk of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), supported by Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R) Thune, who controls the Senate floor, passed the deal by unanimous consent. The deal would have funded the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Coast Guard but required Republicans to fund Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and border enforcement operations at a later date. The disagreement highlighted the internal conflict between the House and Senate, highlighting the need to work together to pass any shutdown solution. Despite this, President Trump endorsed the Senate deal, which is unlikely to pass due to expected opposition from conservatives and Democrats.
