The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has revealed that a plane that crashed on a Florida highway in 2024 had engine problems that were not discovered during maintenance. The problems, which were consistent with exposure to a saltwater environment, occurred when both engines stalled and stopped providing thrust at a low altitude. The two pilots were killed and the plane was allowed to continue flying. The NTSB determined that the corrosion likely occurred over time due to the airplane being exposed to salt air. 25 days before the crash, there was a problem starting both of the plane's engines, but after several days of maintenance work, the engines were started and no further anomalies were noted.
