Parade of Medicaid errors leads to review, budget nears the finish line and more from the Colorado legislature this week
Published on April 18, 2026.
The Colorado legislature has passed a bill raising the overtime threshold for farmworkers to 56 hours of work a week, an increase of eight hours for those workers operating outside peak harvesting seasons. The bill was approved by a divided Colorado House on a 33-32 vote. The state Senate is expected to adopt these changes and send the measure to Gov. Jared Polis, whose spokesman said he would sign it into law. After a series of Medicaid errors and cuts, Colorado lawmakers plan to review the state's health care program for a deep dive, setting aside $500,000 to lead the effort. The Joint Budget Committee will review 20 amendments adopted by the House or the Senate to decide if any will make it into the final document.
