Lee Goodfriend, one of the founders of Racines and the now defunct Goodfriends and Dixons, has donated memorabilia from his former restaurant to the Denver Public Library. The memorabilia includes a Nutty Cheese Salad, a dish popular with many diners, and menus, drink lists, awards, reviews, and signed photos from celebrities. The donation is expected to provide valuable historical information to researchers across the country and around the world. Goodfriend and his partner, David Racine, were both 29 years old when they opened Goodfriends in 1979. They leased a building on East Colfax Avenue with investors, including Dixon Staples, a chef at Apple Tree Shanty, and the building later became a series of strip joints.
