CBS News is ending its radio network, CBS News Radio, after nearly 100 years of operation. The network, which provides top-of-the hour newscasts and other services to WBBM-AM 780 in Chicago and an estimated 700 stations across the country, will end on May 22. The decision was made due to a shift in radio station programming strategies and challenging economic times. It is unclear how many people will lose their jobs due to the radio shutdown. The loss of CBS News' iconic radio service will impact WBBM Newsradio in Chicago, where the station is now owned by Audacy.
