Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, the Liberty's second-longest-tenured player (since 2021), is still playing despite being benched at the trade deadline. Laney, who hasn't seen the court since being ejected for throwing a shoe in a July 12 loss, said she doesn't know what her role will be going forward. The former All-Star and starter on the 2024 title team, who missed all of last season due to a knee injury, entered Monday with only 17 games in the team’s 30 games. Despite this, coach Chris DeMarco expressed confidence in Laney's ability to play more, but seemed less likely to give her an extended look.
