Tong-tastic! 2025 MiLB strikeout leader shines in season debut

MLB's No. 48th-ranked prospect, Alex Tong, performed well in his season debut for Triple-A Syracuse against Worcester. Despite a high pitch count early in the game, Tong struck out four batters and retired 10 of the final 11 hitters, including eight straight. This performance is expected to improve for the No. 3 prospect who led the Minors in ERA (1.43) and strikeouts (179) last season. The addition of All-Star Freddy Peralta to the starting rotation made Tong's assignment to the minors a foregone conclusion.
