Lawmakers pressure DeWine, Ohio Medicaid over nursing home payments ordered six months ago

Nursing homes across Ohio will pay taxes next week on money the state still hasn't paid them. The issue arose when the state used the wrong formula when calculating quality payments, leaving out how sick and complex their patients were, leading to less than half the total received. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the state underpaid providers and ordered it to recalculate and issue the missing payments. Despite two letters from lawmakers pressing for action, the state government has not sent out the money. The exact amount of Ohio owes providers won't be known until the Department of Medicaid does "court-ordered calculations."
