Man Uses His Rare Blood Type, Which Only 2% of U.S. Donors Have, to Help NICU Babies

Nigel Vaughan, a 70-year-old British man, uses his rare B-negative blood type, or NEO blood, to aid babies in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). His blood type makes up only about 2% of the global blood-donor population, making it one of the rarest in the world. Since his birth, Vaughan began donating blood at 18 and has given blood around 250 times, helping around 500 people. He also worked as an emergency responder for St. John Ambulance.
