Actor Sean Penn and actor Ben Stiller were both absent from the Oscars due to different reasons. Penn won Best Supporting Actor for his role in "One Battle After Another," his third Oscar. Fellow actor Kieran Culkin accepted the award on Penn's behalf, while Stiller was pictured courtside at Madison Square Garden. Both Stiller and Penn are known for their outspoken political views. Stiller recently asked the Trump administration to remove a clip of his film "Tropic Thunder" from a White House hype video.
