San Juan Mayor Miguel Romero has expressed concern over the use of an alternate version of Puerto Rico's anthem during pregame ceremonies at a national basketball match on March 28. In a letter sent to the general manager of the Cangrejos, Romero stated that the substitution conflicts with standards expected at events hosted in municipal facilities. He also emphasized that the official version of La Borinqueña represents all Puerto Ricans regardless of ideology or political preference and insisted that alternate versions of the anthem were inappropriate for sporting environments.
