The president of a cosmetics company, Habita, has publicly apologized to the family of a female employee who was killed in an explosion at Aeon Mall Kumamoto last month. Kurumi Ohtake, who was caught in the blast, was instructed to re-enter the building after an earthquake to secure the store's cash. Following successfully evacuating from the mall, she returned to the store to collect the day's sales and was killed. The president of Habita formally admitted to the instruction at a wake held in Kumamoto City. Relatives of the victim expressed devastation over the tragedy, pointing to her strong work ethic as the reason she followed the order. The company plans to conduct a detailed investigation into the circumstances involved.
