Mandatory Subcutaneous Microchips for Employees May Soon Be Banned in Washington State

The Washington state legislature is considering banning mandatory subcutaneous microchips for employees in the workplace. The bill, sponsored by Brianna Thomas, stipulates that an employer may not request, require, or coerce any employee to have a microchip implanted in the employee for any reason. This leaves room for employees to volunteer to be microchipped, as long as they're not asked to do so. The term "subcutaneously" excludes information temporarily attached to the skin by an adhesive strip or bracelet. The proposed law also allows the use of medical devices for medical purposes.
