Keishi Hirata, a 39-year-old former doctor, has been arrested by Osaka Prefectural Police for the third time over the theft of 8,500 psychotropic pills by defrauding a nursing care medical facility in Izumisano City, where he previously worked. He allegedly ordered the pills for personal use, costing the facility approximately 59,000 yen. This is the third arrest for Hirata for defraudming a nursing facility where he worked. The investigation was initiated in March after the facility reported that 20,000 medical pills managed by Hirata had gone missing. In June, Hirata was arrested on suspicion of violating the Medical Practitioners’ Act, alleging he had examined 95 patients during that period.
