The new $100 million STEM building at UNT Dallas has been hailed as a transformative development in the biomedical sector, providing students with hands-on, high-tech, collaborative environments and opportunities for scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals. The building eliminates the geographic tax that has traditionally cut neighbors off from high-paying careers in biotech, engineering and healthcare. The new facility provides students with access to top-tier laboratories and research space, eliminating the geographic barrier between students and industry partners. This move aligns with the needs of thousands of middle and high-skill roles across Dallas-Fort Worth that sit unfilled and offer a living wage and a path to the middle class. The STEM building also prepares students for jobs that exist elsewhere but also prepares them for the ecosystem being built in their own city. The announcement of the university's fourth president, Warren von Eschenbach, marks a new chapter in its leadership.
