Working Families Need Policies That Work for Modern Life

The Bipartisan Policy Center's Commission on the American Workforce has developed a comprehensive blueprint for addressing the issue of American working families. The proposal includes policies that align with how families live, such as paid family and medical leave, childcare access, retirement security, and retraining plans. The commission also recommends skills savings accounts for workers specifically for training and education. It acknowledges that workers are not abstractions and need policies that recognize them as whole people with multiple responsibilities. The public-private partnership is needed to align with these policies, which focus on education, financial security, workforce development, child leave, retirement, and retirement challenges.
