The partial government shutdown has resulted in high absentee rates among Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers, leading to long lines at major airports across the country. The national callout rate for TSA officers has surged, reaching over 11 percent and peaking at 11.76 percent on Sunday. Major airports such as Houston and New York have seen a significant increase in callout rates.
