The superintendent's search committee is under the influence of state law, which requires it to include a State Board of Education member appointed by the state superintendent and two residents of Prince George’s County, appointed as governor. The committee is chaired by Dr. James C. Bell Jr., and includes members from Prince George's County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy, Prince. The search committee will screen applicants, conduct required background checks and interview candidates in early May before recommending three finalists to Governor Brave. The appointment of a new superintendent will be finalised by state.
