Connecticut Attorney General, Rick Tong, has criticised Eversource's efforts to recover nearly $1 billion in projected storm costs for a series of catastrophic storms between 2018 and 2023, as well as $340 million in interest payments associated with those costs. Tong argues that the utility's demand is premature, unprecedented and should be rejected. The state's Office of Consumer Counsel and others have raised questions about costs associated with external contractors, improper storms included for recovery, inadequate documentation, and misapplication of mileage standards. Eversurance has filed 74 motions for extensions of time to respond to discovery requests, resulting in over 1,000 days of delay.
