The average tax refund for individual individuals has risen by 10.9% this year, compared to approximately the same period in 2025. The average refund amount for individuals is $3,571, up from $3.25 a year ago. This increase could be attributed to the increased deduction for state and local taxes (SALT), which has been increased to $40,000 for 2025. However, higher-income individuals may have to wait longer for tax forms related to brokerage account assets or business income.
