ASEAN foreign and economic ministers have called for an immediate halt to the war in the Middle East, citing the effects of rising oil prices and disrupted trade on Southeast Asia's economies. The Philippines, which is leading the meeting, called for global energy supply chains to remain open and for regional mechanisms to mitigate the economic fallout. The ministers also warned that the region's exposure to global oil and LNG supply made it particularly vulnerable to further shocks.
