Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai and Kia's E-GMP vehicles have announced that it will extend warranties for cars with a rare issue, which can cause cars to lose power and potentially delay service time. The issue, affecting around 1% of cars, is rare but has been causing delays in service or multiple failures even after parts are replaced. Hyundai has implemented some fixes, including a recall and software updates to reduce voltage spikes when charging the 12-volt battery. However, this hasn't fully solved the problem, with Hyundai offering a 5-year, 80,000-mile warranty extension for this specific issue, adding to the standard 10-year powertrain warranty. The extension will be offered at no cost to customers.
