The Chapter of York, York Minster's governing body, has submitted plans for a new museum and gardens in York city centre. The proposal involves the Old Palace Library, which houses the Minster archives and is currently open to the public. The library building could also be transformed into a museum and educational centre with a sensory garden. The plans have been submitted to the City of York Council, stating that achieving these aims will be dependent on efforts to raise sufficient funds. Plans also suggest that the building could be transformed as a dedicated museum for learning and educational excellence.
