The International Game Developers Association's local chapter in DC hosted a pop-up arcade where developers live-test ideas for their games. The event, ashowcase, aims to get live feedback from players and developers. Most of the games on display are still in early stages of development. Evan McRae started building the game King Scribble as a capstone project while attending the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and is now working towards a release in late 2027. Other games featured include Dukkido, a strategy game where users amass minions to help solve puzzles and uncover objects to expose secrets. Kristen Marcinek, a master's student at American University studying game design, is involved in Fleshwalk, an exploration game that uses a scan of her skin to help players navigate puzzles and find out what is needed to solve problems.
