A report from the University of Colorado has found that media coverage of climate change and its effects has decreased, despite severe and unpredictable weather events across the globe. The study suggests that readers can only process so much climate news when issues such as war, the cost of living and stagnant wages are at their forefront. The professor of environmental studies, Max Boykoff, stated that this decrease in media coverage could undermine public understanding of the issue and encourage individuals to take personal actions to reduce its effects. The decrease in coverage is attributed to the increasing carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere, fueled in part by energy-related emissions.
