They left their cats on a roof and kayaked out of their flooded Oahu farm. Now they fear they'll lose it

Blake Briddell and his wife, Brit Yim, were forced to leave their flooded Oahu farm after a nightmarish escape from floodwaters. The couple's 8-acre plot in Mokuleia, Hawaii, was among the many small growing operations west of the larger surf towns such as Haleiwa. The National Weather Service reported that the rainfall over the past two weeks is the most in the state in two decades. In many areas, including the northern reaches of Oahu, there was no place for the rainwater to go, causing it to spread across stream banks, roads, neighborhoods and farmland. The loss of these crops and their livelihoods could lead to a loss of everything, with Briddells and Yim still taking inventory.
