Anorage, Alaska, experienced record snowfall this winter, with the city setting a new record in January. Street Maintenance Director Paul VanLandingham has been working to remove all remaining snow from roads and neighborhoods. Much of the city's snow has been hauled to municipal snow dumps, including a new one in West Anchorage, which can hold a lot of snow. VanLandhamen said that while hauling has been a priority, they are now focusing on removing snow and ice that has been blocking storm drains. They have hauled about 70,000 loads of snow, totalling 1.4 million cubic yards of material or snow into seven different snow sites.
