The 2026 Thurtene Carnival at Washington University has had its start delayed due to the threat of lightning. The student-run charity fundraiser is raising money for the St. Louis Arc, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students lead all aspects of the event, which has previously faced weather-related disruptions. The initial start time was set for 4 p.m. Friday, but the forecast of lightning forced organizers to postpone opening. The carnival will resume Saturday and Sunday, operating from 11 a.m.-
