Shell is planning to begin gas output at the Venezuela-Trinidad Loran Manatee field next year. The move is part of Shell's strategy to accelerate gas projects in Venezuela under interim President Delcy Rodriguez's administration, particularly those with Trinidad. Shell has increased the capacity of the pipeline transporting the gas to Trinidad from 700 million cubic feet per day to 1 billion. The company has not yet made a final investment decision on Loran. The prospect of additional gas supplies has prompted NGC to push for the restart of the first liquefaction train of the Atlantic LNG project, which was mothballed years ago due to a shortage.
