Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) defended Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner (D), who has faced criticism for controversial online posts and a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol. Platner initially denied allegations that he had a Nazi tattoo, but then covered it up after he said it did resemble a swastisk. His Reddit posts also included offensive language, offensive references to special needs, and offensive statements about sexual assault. Democrats have endorsed Platner after primary rival Gov. Janet Mills ended her bid.
