'Government like a business': Nebraska governor, cabinet tout efficiencies at roundtable meeting

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and his cabinet have been discussing state efficiencies at a roundtable meeting, where they highlighted key initiatives such as running government "like a business". The meeting also highlighted efforts to identify careers still in the state and address cost control. The legislative session ended last week with $418 million in cuts to state agencies alone, and each department highlighted successes. The first time in state history, every inmate in the correctional system is served by a post-SECONDARY institute to the state's response to the Lexington Tyson plant. The state's budget administrator, Neil Sullivan, also highlighted educational efforts in the Department of Correctional Services. The governor's focus is on finding workers who have laid off jobs and finding them still in Nebraska.
