Mark Zuckerberg-run Meta has launched Muse Spark, its first big artificial intelligence model since Meta overhauled its internal AI division in a bid to compete with rivals like OpenAI and Google. The new model is designed to handle text, images and complex reasoning tasks, including shopping suggestions and assistance with shopping decisions. The move comes as Meta invests billions into Scale AI startup, where founder Alexandr Wang reportedly described Zuckerberg's micromanagement as "suffocating". The company has also hired researchers and executives from top rivals and plans to expand Muse Spark across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and its Ray-Ban smart glasses. The company expects to spend up to $135 billion on AI-related capital expenditures this year.
