Lawsuit brewing against Trader Joe’s over coffee’s caffeine label

A lawsuit has been filed by customers of Trader Joe's, alleging that the brand's French Roast Low Acid coffee contains less than half the caffeine of traditional coffee blends. The customers claim that while most coffee brands don't disclose the full caffeine levels, there are brands labeled "decaf" or "half-caff" to denote lower caffeine levels. The lawsuit alleges that these consumers believe they are purchasing fully-caffeinated coffee, but when they tested the coffee, they discovered it was not. The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages and classes in California, Illinois, and New York where the product is predominantly sold. They are also seeking legal certification for classes in the states where they are particularly affected.
