Pro-cannabis advocacy groups met with Indiana officials following the reclassification of state-licensed medical cannabis. The groups discussed potential next steps, with a focus on medical cannabis use among veterans. The announcement has been welcomed by veterans Lucy Luman and Jeff Staker, a veteran and lead organizer of Hoosier Veterans for Medical Cannabis, Inc. They have called on Gov. Gary Braun to create a state cannabis compliance commission. State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) and State Sen. Rodney Pol (D-East Chicago) believe this could be the key to meaningful reform next year. However, some lawmakers have expressed skepticism about Republican leaders' stance on marijuana reform.
