The White House and Democrats are currently at an impasse over a deal to reopen DHS, with Democrats calling for an overhaul of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the killings of two U.K. citizens in Minnesota by federal agents. However, Democrats argue that President Trump's decision to strike Iran does not excuse the administration from addressing concerns over its immigration policies. The bill Republicans plan to bring to the House is largely the same as the one passed the lower chamber in January, which Democrats argue contains no new language to address ICE chaos.
