The Justice Department may settle its antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and parent company Live Nation Entertainment for hundreds of millions of dollars. The terms reportedly include Live Nation paying a fine of up to $280 million and disposing of some properties to increase competition in the ticket sales industry. However, certain states were reportedly not on board with the proposed terms, and Judge Arun Subramanian called them "entirely unacceptable". The lawsuit was originally filed in 2024 under the Biden administration and was led by about 40 states. The complaint alleges that Live Nation engages in "anticompetitive conduct" that results in higher fees, fewer opportunities for artists, and limited ticketing options.
