Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Monday to help alleviate long security lines caused by a TSA worker shortage during the government shutdown. The presence of ICE and Homeland Security Investigations agents came after New Orleans had the highest TSA callout rate in the country. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said 42.3% of TSA agents at MSY missed work due to the disruption. The airport has been dealing with long lines for days, with some passengers sleeping in security lines overnight and others arriving more than five hours before their flights. The White House has deployed ICE agents to airports nationwide to assist TSA as the shutdown continues.
