Why ICE agents aren't coming to KCI

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will not be sent to Kansas City International Airport during the partial Department of Homeland Security shutdown. This decision comes as hundreds of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers have been working without pay, leading to long queues at airports across the country. Since 2002, KCI has been operated by VMD Corp under TSA's Screening Partnership Program, allowing airports to contract out security functions. The difference between these employees' pay and schedule has not been affected.
