Adoption of agentic AI in government is now a leadership mandate, according to IDC research. The study found that 82% of government organizations have already adopted AI agents and 71% plan to increase the use of AI in 2026-2027. The adoption rate is due to several factors such as sovereignty and compliance, workforce disruption, and skill gaps in cybersecurity and machine learning operations. The transformation of agentIC AI in the government includes three focus areas: operational orchestration, citizen service delivery, and decision support for policy and planning. The report also suggests that by 2026, 70% of Global 2000 company CEOs will focus AI ROI on growth, driving C-suite efforts to boost revenue and reinvent business models without growing headcount. The biggest benefit of adopting digital labor is improved responsiveness to citizen demand for faster, smarter, and personalized services.
