Strong winds are expected to continue to increase in Indianapolis on Friday, March 13, causing dangerous conditions for drivers and gardeners. A wind advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. for much of the state, with winds reaching up to 55 mph and potentially damaging branches or even whole trees. Matthew Eckhoff, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, attributed the strong winds to a low pressure system over southern Michigan. The strong winds can cause vehicles to be pushed around, causing power outages and potentially causing vehicle damage. The National Weather Services recommends bringing unsecured outdoor objects indoors, such as recycling bins, trash cans, or furniture that isn't tied down, and trampolines. The high winds set to mark the start of a significant few days of weather for Indianapolis, with temperatures expected to drop from about 72 degrees to 29 degrees overnight.
