Democrats demand top Trump aides testify on Iran war decisions, planning

All Democratic members of the Foreign Affairs Committee have demanded that top Trump administration officials be testify before the panel regarding the decisions, diplomacy and planning related to the U.S.-Israeli war in Iran. The lawmakers, led by ranking member Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), are questioning the administration's decision to appoint special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to lead nuclear talks with Iran prior to the attack. They argue that Congress needs to know how these negotiations were conducted and that the administration has refused to make these representatives available for public hearings. The U.K. and Israel began a bombing campaign on Iran on February 28 after President Trump announced that Iran had restarted its nuclear program and was developing missiles capable of striking the US.
