However, Michigan's approach to the market has been criticized for flooding the market and increasing prices. Despite restrictions, Ohio's marijuana industry brought in over $836 million in 2025, its first full year of sales, and it is expected to exceed this year as purchase caps increase midyear and popular prerolls become available in August. The state has made it explicitly illegal to possess or consume marijuana purchased outside Ohio or store it in anything but its original packaging.
