LAX travelers say Hawaii rainfall, flooding is unlike anything they have experienced

Raging floodwaters on O'ahu's North Shore led to temporary evacuation orders for about 5,500 people north of Honolulu, causing the state's worst flooding in over 20 years. The area known for bigwave surfing is now covered in mud, leaving homes and cars inundated. Travelers arriving at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) described the intense rainfall and flooding as unlike anything they have seen. The damage to schools, airports, roads, homes, and hospitals could exceed $1 billion, according to Hawaii Gov. Josh Green. The evacuation orders have now been lifted, but authorities are keeping an eye on a 120-year-old dam that they fear could fail.
