An El Paso police officer was assaulted while investigating a reported theft at Cielo Vista Mall. The officer, a seven-year veteran of the department, sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. One of the suspects, 17-year-old Madelyn De La Rosa, is facing charges of theft of property valued at over $100 but less than $750.
