Blind Dad of 2 Died in Homicide After Being Released by Border Patrol and Left to Find His Own Way Home: Officials

Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a blind father of two, was found dead after being released by Border Patrol officers and left to find his own way home in Buffalo, N.Y., on February 24. The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) announced that Alam’s cause of death was complications of a perforated duodenal ulcer caused by hypothermia and dehydration. The death has been ruled as a homicide. Alam was reported missing on Sunday, February 22, and had been dropped off at a Tim Hortons restaurant on Thursday, Feb. 19. The Department of Homeland Security stated that Alam passed almost a WEEK after his release and had a lengthy criminal rap sheet.
